Did you know that about one third of all computer users suffer from RSI-related complaints? Posture and behaviour are two significant contributors.
The R-Go Break Mouse is an ergonomic vertical mouse that stimulates to keep the hand and arm in a natural position and indicates with colours how healthy you work!
As with all health-related issues, it is important to learn healthy behaviour (such as eating healthy, exercising, listening to your body, and avoiding destructive behaviour). We realise that behavioural change can be achieved; but this is a process and change will not occur overnight. Most people are unaware how long they use the mouse or just leave their hand on the mouse without mousing. This is why we have developed not just an ergonomic mouse, but an ergonomic mouse which helps you to modify behaviour.
Why ergonomic mousing?
With office work, the average person uses the mouse and keyboard at least 6 hours per day. Based upon a 5 day work week this can result in about 7 full years of your life behind the computer! Understanding the relationship from human to the equipment is the first step. Followed with a proper workstation set-up. Lastly to avoid physical complaints the body should adopt a natural, relaxed posture. This is obtainable with ergonomic tools by combining the user with the ergonomic R-Go Break Mouse.
The R-Go Break Mouse:
- Indicates with colour signals how healthy you work and when to take a break!
- Ensures that you move the mouse with the arm instead of the wrist
- Is a unique technology with 'patent pending'
- Has an ergonomic vertical shape to prevent twisting of the forearm
What makes the R-Go Break Mouse unique?
The R-Go Break mouse indicates with color signals how healthy you work:
Green means "good to go", orange means that you should take a little (micro) break and red means that you forgot to take your break or that your maximum number of daily mousing hours has been exceeded. By using (the similar functions of) traffic light color indication simple, positive feedback is provided about healthy behaviour of the user. The individual is encouraged to take frequent short breaks. These vital breaks will prevent overload of small muscles and tendons in the arm, wrist and hand while help the individual to easily (all be it subconsciously) change his/her behavior.
As this idea to combine a healthy posture with visual indication to stimulate healthy behavior is completely NEW, we protected the idea and patented the technology for use on any input device!
The R-Go Break Mouse is a laser mouse with adjustable DPI settings to 500, 1000, 1800, and 2500 DPI. The mouse has 2 buttons on the front (right and left click) and a scroll wheel in the middle. Besides, a forward and backward button are located in the thumbrest. The mouse is currently compatible with Windows XP and later.
The mouse works with the standard Windows mouse driver. The application for the colour indication was built in .NET and uses the HID library to communicate with the mouse.
The shape that is used as a basis for the R-Go Break Mouse is similar to the HE Mouse (developed several years ago and awarded for best input device in 2013 in The Netherlands). The R-Go Break Mouse has a vertical grip which provides a neutral, relaxed position of the hand and wrist. You move from the forearm instead of your wrist, which prevents RSI. The mouse fits comfortably in your hand, and supports your wrist and fingers.
